"Milk and Honey" is a collection of contemporary poems by feminist Rupi Kaur. Inside you will find many short anecdotes following the themes of love, loss, trauma, abuse, healing and femininity, in a poetic form.

"Mleko i Miód" jest kolekcją współczesnych wierszów napisanych przez feministkę o imieniu Rupi Kaur. W środku znajdziesz kolekcję krótkich opowieści o miłości, stracie, przemocy, cierpieniu i kobiecości, w formie wierszów.

The hurting, the loving, the breaking, the healing... those are the four sections/chapters of the book, categories as you may call them, into which the variety of the poems are divided into. Those four sections are also four different journeys that you go on while you read through the book. Every category touches on different problems, experiences and advice. The emotions however follow you throughout, and theres no escape from the permanent effect that the book leaves on you once you finish. It's inevitable. 

Kochanie, gojenie, zrywanie, cierpienie... te cztery rozdziały/kategorie rozdzielają wiersze w całej książce. Te kategorie są również czterema różnymi podróżami które przeżywasz podczas czytania tej książki. Każdy rozdział dotyka inne problemy, doświadczenia i porady. Emocje jednak prześladują cię przez całą książke i nie ma ucieczki od trwałego efektu który ta książka na tobie zostawi długo po skończeniu jej. To jest nieuniknione.

I can't believe that I spent money on a poetry book. I have never been a fan of poetry, neither writing or reading it, and when an English teacher would mention it at school, my eyes would roll back so far that there was a risk of them not returning. This book however has changed my whole opinion on  poetry and has encouraged me to give the genre a chance.

Dalej nie moge uwierzyć że wydałam pieniądze na książke o poezji. Nigdy nie byłam fanką poezji, ani czytania ani pisania, a gdy nauczyciel Angielskiego wspomniał o poezji w szkole, to oczy przewracałam tak daleko że było ryzyko że nigdy nie wrócą na swoje miejsce. Jednak ta książka zmieniła moją opinie o poezji oraz zachęciła mnie aby dać szanse temu gatunku.

I must admit, quite shamelessly that the first time I came across these poems was on Tumblr. Yes, these short, simple but completely deep and relatable poems filled my Tumblr blog at one stage and as aesthetically pleasing as they are, so crisp on a blank white canvas that is a page, the short, few worded poems touched my heart, mind and soul at more than one occasion.

Musze przyznać że pierwszy raz widziałam te wiersze na Tumblr. Tak, te krótkie, proste ale całkowicie głębokie wiersze w pewnym momencie były regularnie na moim blogu Tumblr. Te wiersze są estetyczne, ostry czarny atrament na białym pustym płótnie czym jest kartka, ale te krótkie, mało słowne wiersze dotknęły mojego serca, umysłu oraz duszy częściej niż raz.

I hadn't realised that all the little poems I was posting and sharing, were actually by the same author and were all put together in a book. I decided to give it book a go, and after arriving in the post in the morning, I started it that same day and finished it in an hour. Yes, an hour. Not that it was hard - the poems flow effortlessly and once I started it was impossible to stop. As you realise how deep these poems are, and how much you can connect on another level, you want to carry on, find more, discover yourself further. 

Nie zdawałam sobie sprawy z tego że te małe wiersze które udostępniałam były napisane przez tą samą osobe i są wszystkie zebrane razem w jednej książce. Postanowiłam dać tej książce szanse. Dostawa doszła rano, zaczęłam w ten sam dzień, i skończyłam czytać w godzine. Tak, jedną godzine. Trudno nie było - wiersze płyną bez wysiłku, i jak już zaczniesz, nie ma końca. Zdajesz sobie sprawe jak bardzo głębokie są te wiersze, i jak bardzo rozumieją ciebie na innym poziomie co sprawia że chcesz czytać dalej, dowiedzieć się więcej, odkryć samą siebie dalej.

Though some are definitely for me 'mature' readers, any reader will find a poem or hopefully more than one that they will be able to relate to in their own way.

Niektóre wiersze są zdecydowanie dla bardziej "dojrzałych" czytelników, ale każdy czytelnik znajdzie jeden wiersz lub więcej który się będzie do nich odnosić w swój własny sposób.

While critics may say that these are poor excuses for poems, and me myself being far from a poetry expert, if there's any poetry book you should read, it has to be this one. The 'Tumblr post' looks makes it even more appealing to today's young generation that may find the themes of Rupi Kaur's poetry relatable and helpful. 

Choć krytycy mogą powiedzieć że to są ledwo wiersze, a ja sama będąc daleko od eksperta poezji, jeśli jest jaka kolwiek książka poezji którą powinniście przeczytać, to właśnie ta. Wygląd "Tumblr" tych wierszy, sprawia że są bardziej atrakcyjne dla dzisiejszej młodzieży, która może znaleźć tematy Rupi Kaur poezji, pomocne i wstanie sie do niech odnieść.

I can't recommend this book enough! Trust me, even if you hate poetry (I know for a fact that I did), this book is something else. It deeper than that, much more meaningful. It's a journey of discovery for each reader in their own, unique way. 

Nie moge przestać polecać tej książki! Uwierzcie mi, nawet jeśli nie cierpicie poezji (ja wiem że ja na 100% nie cierpiałam, ta książka jest czymś innym. Jest czymś głębszym, czymś o wiele bardziej znaczącym. Jest to podróż odkrywania samego siebie, w swój własny niepowtarzalny sposób.
